Girl Crush

by Julie Robinson

Even though you all know that I'm a bit of a freak, what you may not know is that I lived without TV for over twelve years. That all changed when I got a roommate--he watches TV constantly--so occasionally I get a little peek at what's going on in the outside world.

And now I have developed a crush.

This crush started with the Fiat commercials, has grown because of the American Idol commercials, and now has me buying magazines with my dream girl on the cover. Yes, I'm talking about Jennifer Lopez.

Bitch / Whore / Angel / Princess: Part I

by Julie Robinson

Some days all I want to do is feel sorry for myself.  It feels spot on being a complete sour puss and luckily for me it doesn’t happen so often that my friends do continue to feign interest OR empathy OR remind me that life isn’t so bad—I can just take a shower, pop a few pills and get rid of most of this bitchy feeling that’s dragging me down.  Other days, life is sunny, the rainbow leads me to that big ol’ pot of gold, and I even fuck a leprechaun just because I can. (Yes, it’s true I do have a mild case of bipolar disease.)
So, in the tradition of all of the ups and downs we all feel for no apparent reason besides the synopses in our brains aren’t firing quite right—here’s a little What? Not! chock full of roller coaster peaks, valleys, and wrenching curves we prove we can handle by throwing our arms in the air as we scream our bloody heads off.

Today the What? Not! post is going to focus on my bitchy-whore side.  Here I explore a couple of cases where I show some of my vivid colors in terms of a lost friendship and sexual experimentation.  Next week I will share my other side when I talk about being an absolute angel / princess. As you might expect, one side comes more naturally than the other. . . . Enjoy!

What's the Best Advice You've Ever Gotten about Dating, Relationships, or Sex?

I have a friend whose mother taught her how to give a good blow job.  That same friend also reminded me that men are like buses . . . . a new one comes along every few minutes.  Mama Gena is always full of great advice for women interested in "owning and operating" men.

How about you?  Post a comment below (there are ways to do it anonymously if you feel the need) and let's see what advice you're following (or not!) these days . . . .

Top 10 What? Not! Posts from 2011

 by Julie Robinson

When talking with a friend last night, we both agreed that the energy we feel in January produces a welcome sort of calm excitement. The crisp air, quiet nights by the fire and deep soul searching all give us a certain sense of satisfaction.  It’s a time for reflection.  We make promises to ourselves about how we want to improve ourselves / our world / our sex lives.

It’s also a terrific month for lists.  Personally, I can’t get enough lists.  Sitting down to the computer each day I make my “To Do” list knowing full well that I will only get to about half of the items outlined.  Grocery lists keep me away from those dreaded center aisles.  What I Really Want from a Man lists don’t really work . . . but it’s always fun to fantasize.
